Digging for Quartz

Brinley's class and the other 3rd grade classes went on a field trip to this place 2 hours away to dig for quartz. This place was way out of the way...I felt like we were back on a Disney ride the last mile to the place...dirt roads up hills...no cell phone reception. WE got there and I soon realized I really should not have come with AnnaB and Aaron. The place was simply huge mud hills except for the few places to park.Aaron fell asleep when we arrived so I just let him sleep awile and AnnaB just played in the car and outside the car a little while. We did venture up the mud hill with the baby stroller (mistake...I am still putting off trying to get that red mud/clay off) The teachers worned the kids to wear old shoes and clothes, but I had no idea just how dirty and muddy they would get. Brinley had a blast. She said that it was the best field trip so far (I have to say I was a bit surprised at that). THere was an awesome view on top of the mud and the weather was not hot...overcast, which was good. Ellie's mom found a huge quartz worth $40!Brinley found quite a few really pretty ones. Maybe will go there more often to make some extra money (Ha):)
